About Metro South ABE
If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.
Milton Berle
Metro South Adult Basic Education (MSABE) aims to support the efforts of all adults who wish to improve their lives through literacy, education, career development and lifelong learning.
Our Mission
As a consortium of Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Edina, and Richfield public schools, Metro South serves individuals and families from a wide range of communities, primarily in the metropolitan suburbs of south Hennepin County. Our programming helps students plan their education while at MSABE, as they move into the workforce, or seek post-secondary opportunities.
Volunteer with MSABE
Metro South Volunteers support adult learners through a network of caring volunteers dedicated to promoting literacy. As advocates of lifelong learning, we provide learning opportunities for both students and volunteers.
Our impact
Metro South has been providing adult basic education (ABE) programs in the community for more than four decades. As one of the largest ABE consortium programs in Minnesota, Metro South Adult Basic Education (MSABE) has over 2,000 students accessing services on an annual basis.
Adult Basic Education in Minnesota
Nearly one in five Minnesotans over age 25 do not have a high school diploma, and many who do still lack the basic skills necessary for employment. Adult Basic Education (ABE) connects these adults to the skills, support, and opportunities they need to gain stability and self-sufficiency, get on the path to a career, and contribute to society as parents, citizens, and workers.
Minnesota ABE is constantly adapting to meet the changing needs of workers and employers alike by forging new partnerships with local employers, community and technical colleges, and community organizations to support the varied needs of adult learners.
